Peripheral devices – Battery monitor
Safe is safe
The VOTRONIC battery monitors are connected between the supply battery and the consumer and are suitable for all lead-acid battery types (acid, gel, AGM) and makes. On the one hand, they protect the on-board battery from dangerous deep discharge and, on the other hand, they protect the consumers and equipment from overvoltage. It can also be used as a remote-controlled battery main switch from an external switch. The devices can be switched on again at any time via an EMERGENCY ON function. A bistable power relay ensures extremely low power consumption (DIN EN 13976). Solid screw terminals round off the profile.

BATTERY-PROTECTOR Battery Protector 40
product features
- Switching current 40 A, briefly overloadable up to 60 A, externally visible switching status indicator
- EMERGENCY-ON function via switch on the appliance, can also be operated remotely via external switch
- Automatic reset as soon as the battery voltage returns to the normal range (charging)
- Separate sensor cable and switching thresholds with hysteresis and timer functions for trouble-free operation
- Bistable power relay, very low power consumption, less than 3 mA (according to EN 13976)
- No self-consumption when switched off via external switch, e.g. remote control as main battery switch
- Solid screw terminals for battery and load cable cross-sections up to 10 mm²
- Engine” version with higher switch-off thresholds maintains the starting capability of emergency vehicles with only one battery circuit in accordance with DIN EN 1789
BATTERY-PROTECTOR Battery Protector 100
product features
- High switching currents, extremely low consumption
- Automatic reset function
- EMERGENCY ON function, can also be remote-controlled
- Can be used as a remote-controlled main switch
- Intelligent automatic switching threshold
- Also for starter batteries according to DIN EN 1789
- For 12 V or 24 V battery voltage
In the Battery Protector 100, the bistable power relay is designed for switching currents of 100 A and can be overloaded by up to 180 A for short periods. Here too, the bistable relay ensures extremely low power consumption. The device is suitable for 12 V to 24 V vehicle electrical systems, operates fully automatically and has an intelligent automatic switching threshold as a special feature. It recognises the changing load on the battery and ensures optimum utilisation of the battery capacity. Optionally, the device can also be operated with 3 fixed, selectable switch-off thresholds. The higher switch-on thresholds enable emergency vehicles to be started with only one battery circuit in accordance with DIN EN 1789. The Battery Protector 100 also has a visual and audible pre-alarm, a separate warning switching output and is equipped with solid battery screw connections. The contact cover is included in the scope of delivery. 2 LEDs indicate the operating status of the device.
BATTERY-PROTECTOR Battery Protector 300
product features
Operation as Battery Protector:
- Visual display of the operating status via two LEDs
- Audible alarm can be activated (when the pre-warning threshold is reached or when the device is switched off)
- Output for external alarm display (max. 0.3 A, short-circuit proof)
- Suitable for all common lead-acid battery types with 12 V or 24 V nominal voltage
- Suitable for lithium batteries (LiFePO4)
- Can also be used as a powerful battery main switch with protective function
- Various switching thresholds configurable
- EMERGENCY ON function, can also be remote-controlled
Operation as a switch unit:
- Can be used as a main battery switch
- Electronic delay prevents excessively fast reaction, e.g. in the event of voltage dips caused by switching on heavy loads
- Visual display of the operating status via two LEDs
- Alternatively, it can be used as a remote-controlled power relay (“switch unit”).
The Battery Protector 300 is a fully automatic battery protector for motorhomes and boats as well as fire engines, rescue and emergency vehicles, which can also be used as a powerful switching module. It consists of a high-current relay designed for switching currents of up to 300 A (permanent, 600 A for 20 seconds) and a separate control unit. As battery protection, it protects the battery from dangerous deep discharge and the consumers from both undervoltage and overvoltage. It is connected between the on-board battery and the consumer and is suitable for all classic lead-acid battery types as well as modern lithium LiFePO4 batteries. With its extremely low current consumption of less than 3 mA, it fulfils the strict requirements of DIN EN 13976.
The device can also be used as a remote-controlled battery main switch from an external, 1-pole switch. The Battery Protector 300 has an EMERGENCY ON function that can be used to switch the device back on at any time in an emergency. This function can also be operated remotely via a switch. The device is equally suitable for 12 V and 24 V battery systems and has the same intelligent automatic switching thresholds or fixed, selectable switching thresholds as the Battery Protector 100. It also has a visual and audible pre-alarm, a separate warning switching output and two LEDs on the housing that indicate the operating status of the device. Alternatively, it can be used as a remote-controlled power relay (“switch unit”), e.g. on the LCD Battery Computer S, LCD Energy Monitor or VPC.
Charging technology at the highest level
The battery is the central element of a vehicle’s electrical system. It requires the greatest attention, maintenance and care and, above all, it must be charged correctly.
