D+ SIMULATOR
If additional consumers are only to be switched on when the engine is running (the alternator supplies current) or if the on-board battery is to be optimally charged during the journey via a charging converter, then the D+ contact of the alternator is usually used for control.
However, this contact is often not accessible in the vehicle or is no longer present in newer alternators, which is where the VOTRONIC D+ simulator comes in. It generates a voltage-controlled signal (e.g. from the starter battery) for a (cut-off) relay or a charging converter. Other possible applications include the control of additional consumers that should only be activated when the battery is sufficiently charged, e.g. switching on an air conditioning system while driving or switching a refrigerator, cooling or heating box to 12 V on-board operation.
Note: The voltage-controlled D+ Simulator (item no. 3066) is not suitable for many vehicles according to the Euro 6 standard (see D+ Simulator Pro item no. 3067).
Charging technology at the highest level
The battery is the central element of a vehicle’s electrical system. It requires the greatest attention, maintenance and care and, above all, it must be charged correctly.
